National Aviary & Playa Blanca: Full Day Trip in Barú

Regular price US$62

Discover one of the top eco-tourism experiences near Cartagena with this National Aviary of Colombia & Playa Blanca day trip. Located in Barú, the National Aviary is one of the largest open-air aviaries in South America and a leading bird conservation and breeding center. This experience combines nature, education, and relaxation — all in one seamless day.

During your visit to the Aviario Nacional in Barú, you’ll walk through carefully designed habitats that recreate Colombia’s diverse ecosystems. Colombia is the country with the highest bird diversity in the world, and this sanctuary allows you to experience it up close. The route includes three main ecosystems — rainforest, coastal wetlands, and desert — plus two specialized zones for migratory birds.

The aviary is home to approximately 2,000 birds representing more than 160 species, spread across seven hectares. Located just 50 minutes from Cartagena, this immersive experience allows you to observe iconic species such as harpy eagles, macaws, flamingos, Andean condors, curassows, cardinals, woodpeckers, parakeets, and seasonal migratory birds across 21 observation stations.

After the aviary visit, your day continues at Playa Blanca in Barú, one of the most famous beaches near Cartagena. You’ll enjoy lunch at a private beach club and have time to relax by the Caribbean Sea, unwind under palm trees, or simply enjoy the coastal scenery.
